FAQ about ghostwriting

Manuscript Ghostwriting

If you have the knowledge, experience, and expertise to fill a book, but you lack time to pen the pages yourself (or you just want an expert to do it!)…that’s where I come in.

What’s your process for ghostwriting?
I work very collaboratively with the author. Our first step is to create the outline, which usually takes about a month. To do this, we schedule a series of interviews (usually over Zoom) in which the author talks me through their material and I ask questions to fill in the gaps. Throughout this process, I’m gathering information in order to tell the author’s story in the most compelling way possible. My superpowers are my intuition and empathy…finding what’s not being said that unlocks the story. What I often hear from authors: “Oh my goodness, yes! How did you know?”

Once we have the outline, I begin drafting. I send chapters as I go and provide up to two revisions on each chapter. By the time we’re finished, the author knows exactly what they’re getting…and they love the book we’ve created together.

How long does it take?
That depends on how much work the author has done prior to contacting me, and how much we’re doing as a result of our work together. A typical timeline for manuscript completion is six months.
Can you publish my book for me?
My speciality is creating a manuscript that sparkles. I won’t publish it for you (you wouldn’t want me to!), but I can refer you to excellent professionals in my network who will produce a book that makes your heart sing.
Can you help me get a book deal?
If you want a traditional book deal, your first step is to write the book proposal (not the whole book). I can refer you to some excellent industry professionals to help you with this.
How much does it cost?

Each ghostwriting project varies depending on the amount of work the author has done prior to contacting me. The investment starts at roughly .8 c/word, or $40,000 for a book of 50,000 words. I scope out the work and timeline for the project and receive payments in four installments installments: at the project’s initiation, the 1/3 mark, the 2/3 mark, and upon delivery.

Is it worth it?

Having a book is still the number one way to leverage your power as a thought leader. I’ve worked with people whose lives have been transformed as a result of writing their books: they’ve achieved international thought leader status, exploded their business to the tune of millions, and exponentiated their reach. These authors regularly receive messages from readers around the world saying how much the author’s book has meant to them.
